As toddlers, we learn through our senses and experiences. In our two toddler classrooms, we begin our day with large group time (through music, movement and interactions with our peers) as well as learn literacy and math.
The toddlers learn through all of their experiences, such as stacking blocks, sharing with one another, dressing up or cooking in the kitchen center. We learn through the children’s interests by daily observations and interactions in the classrooms.
Another part of our day is story time. The children build their language and literacy skills through the books, puppetry and stories the teachers introduce to them. We even teach the children sign language to communicate with one another.
Our toddlers learn to be independent early on - we encourage the children to feed themselves during meal times to help build self confidence and independence.
The children also enjoy playing on the playground at least twice a day and love interacting with the teachers through all of their experiences at Bedford Child Development Center.
